OCBC downgrade to Sell with $0.99 TP. House note that the share price of Ezra Holdings has seen an astounding increase of about 40% in the past week. Though Ezra has clarified earlier that it was not aware nor has it been engaged on a takeover by Samsung Heavy Industries, there could possibly be other offers by potential acquirers along the way. Still, there has been no change to the company?s fundamentals since its disappointing 3QFY13 results. Looking ahead, believe that execution risks are still not over for Ezra, despite an order book of more than US$2b, as this is susceptible to project delays and cost overruns. Yeah that is true. As long as they have not denied any rumors about Samsung Heavy Industries buying them to curb the speculation, this counter will be moving upward more than downward. Today it is taking a breather I suppose will be back riding up very soon. My 2 cents. Cheers.

Deutsche maintains Sell with $0.70 TP. House note that share price rose 48% last week probably on market speculation of a rekindling of takeover talks. In August 2013, TradeWinds magazine reported that Samsung Heavy Industries had considered making a takeover bid for Ezra. Last week, Ezra issued a statement indicating that it remains focused on its strategy to grow its subsea business and regularly explores and reviews business opportunities, but the house clearly denied that Samsung Heavy is making a takeover bid. Recent discussion with management confirms that it is not aware of, nor has it been engaged in any takeover talks as reported. Management also indicated that it is unaware of any information that has resulted in the recent unusual trading activity. Overall, believe execution risks are not over for Ezra and house expect a challenging six to nine months as the group continues to build on EMAS AMC. | ||||
