hi starfire, i sold off my lots last week at a loss since i was not sure of the market direction. however as regards cambridge i suspect 1 of the BB's trying to push down the price to collect weak buyers thats why the downtrend. last week there was a buy on Cambridge by Merril Lynch target price 0.92 cents. hope this helps. |

Good for long term. Heavily vested. Selldown by Brilliant Manufacturing the last few days. Not sure will they sell down again or not as they crosses below 5% mark so they don't need to report any sales in this counter. One of the higher yields reits as compared to the pricing of the stocks and dividend payout. |

Cambridge is not down but just corrected to 0.665 which is a very strong support. Did you go in at 0.665? |

Hi rouge_trader, Its hard to tell the trend now... it could be an uptrend but we'll need to wait a few more days to be certain. To puntit, Yeah! Its easier for all, TA and FA people included, to make money in a bull market than a bear one. |

shplayer, thanks a lot. Was thinking of buying dividend stocks (not REITs) under my mum name so that I can enjoy the "best of both worlds". Anyway, did you sold off your courage marine? It had been months since we last discusses about this courageous play.. Shot up to $0.20 recently if I not wrong. I think it going to be nearing my prediction of $0.24, then I will offload if it hit that price. Anyway, thanks for your response. |

rogue_trader, Not absolutely sure on the tax of dividents but from what I understand: if the div is tax exempt (such as Reit, and div on capital gains of companies etc) then you get full dividents without tax. Furthermore, this div will not be taxed irrespective of your tax bracket. if div is declared as 'one tier', then 20% tax will be deducted at source...i.e. say for 10cts 'one tier' div, you will receive 8 cts (2cts deducted as tax). However, if your income tax bracket is lower than 20%, say it is @ the 10% bracket, IRAS will refund you 1cts when your tax is assessed. If your tax bracket is 0%, then you will get 2cts refund. However, I think Yr of assessment 2007, is the last year for companies to expend their 'one tier' tax dividents.i.e. you will only enjoy this up to the tax assessment next year. if div is declared as x cts less 20% tax, then tax is deducted at source and there will not be any refund if your tax bracket is less than 20%....i.e. for 10cts div you get 8cts and no refund. Hope this helps. |

shplayer, thanks a lot. Was hoping you could help me on this few questions on dividend If one buy shares that gave dividend under an unemployed status, as long as the dividend received does not exceed the tax bracket, meaning one does not need to pay tax right? If one received dividend that is being taxed at the corporate level, will one be getting some tax rebates as in an unemployed situatuon or will one be taxed again for this "taxed" dividends? Thanks again. |
