That is why some msian who are educated in spore since pri 1 (needs similar to sporean) would also migrate to less stressful Australia. Some of them try to get PR in Msia later in life, but were rejected by Msian authority.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	This issue of being 2nd class in a foreign land is all perceived. I have lived abroad before and I have not felt any prejudices. In fact, when I was setting up my business as a start up in US, ppl were prepared to give me a chance even though I did not have the track record. In Spore, a start up without track record, will have no chance.....esp with the GLC/TLC and govt contracts. Sporeans who go abroad with the past colonial mentality that the 'whites' are our past colonial masters have only themselves to blame if they feel second class. However, in Spore, as a Sporean, I do feel the govt has a long time been favouring the new FTs that have landed on our shores to its own citizens. I have personally experienced it on quite a few occassions in my lifetime. It is not the smallness of Spore that is the issue, but it is the system and the ppl who controls the system

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	I am sure we know of friends or relatives of ours who have left Singapore for good to places like NZ,canada etc.... Among the findings i come accross is that,although they are 2nd class citizen in their adopted countries,they are finding life there happier and more relax.Financially,some of them actually did better than they were when in Singapore. Life is wat u make u of it as they tell me. Also,among ourselves,what is the point of being 1st class citizen here when PR also have the same privileges???

( scared that the psycologist might read some very bad findings ....hahaha ! ...) :  )

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	will concur with shplayer about the PRCs and the Indians. esp since i worked with them in the labs before. 10 out of 10 said that s'pore was a stepping stone to the US/back to china; and s'pore was just a convenient stop, a second choice to be accepted if their first choices didn't accept them. the malaysians, esp the chinese malaysians, would likely be the permanent stayers tho; esp if they came over as children and faced prejudice in their own country. question tho: what if it is better being a second rate citizen in a foreign country, than a first rate one in your own? Also: there is an assumption here: are singaporeans really being treated as first class citizens in our own country?   there is the running joke about the airlines: that on Japan Airlines, the stewardesses serve the Caucasians, and the Japanese first. On Korean Air, they serve the Koreans, and the Caucasians first. On Cathay, they serve the HKers and the Caucasians first. On BA, they serve the English/Caucasians first. On SQ, they serve the Caucasians first.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Many from India and China may use spore as a stepping stone to the West esp USA, Australia and Canada, but many Malaysian non-bumis would like to become spore PRs and citizen, except a few who are educated since young in Spore who may find life in Australia less stressful, but don't forget they are still second class citizens as compared to the whites.

As such quotas for these countries have been exhausted for pple from these countries excepts for those with highly specialised skills/profession. Spore, having a small population base, still have excess quota. Hence, quite a number of FTs seeking Spore PR/Citizenship are merely using Spore as a stepping stone to their final destination. So, don't be led to believe that all these FTs coming here are due to their desire to live in our clean, green and sterile city state.

x 1   x 0  Alert Admin	Foreigners especially from neighbouring countries would take up Spore Pr and citizenship because spore emphasis on merit not by the colour of one's skin. In their own countries, they are second class citizens. Most of the benefits go to the bumis, etc. Spore govt takes cares of all levels of ppl, educate everyone if one is willing. Over in our neigbouring countries, the non-bumi academic less inclined have no where to get the necessary skills, so they have learnt thro OJT by private enterprises.Their govt takes care of the bumis only, that is why the indians demonstrated after so many yrs of neglect by their govt. Their govt did not lose the southern states because many of them are working in Spore, with an exchange rate of almost 2.3 times. Practically all their youth are working in Spore. In 1 family all the four young adults are working in spore, getting paid from $1K to $2K. Those in the north do not have the convenience of working in spore, so that is why they voted against their govt. The hosp over there is like shit, literally shit. The toilets have leaking ceiling (above that are also toilets), the shits are everywhere on the floor of the toilets.
