Oil rises on crude stock drop

Oil rose above $75 per barrel today, boosted by better-than-expected US jobless data and a draw on US crude stocks.

 

Crude stocks fell by 4.96 million barrels last week, a weekly Energy Information Administration report showed, more than analysts polled by Reuters had expected. "Today's data should reinforce the bullish short-term undertone for the energy complex," said Chris Jarvis of Caprock Risk Management in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. Oil prices rose in tandem with equities markets, on solid earnings from key retail chains, and after US Labor Department data today showed jobless claims fell more than expected last week, to their lowest level in two months. US crude oil futures for August delivery settled at $74.44 per barrel, up $1.37. That takes two-day gains to $3.46 per barrel, a 4.8% rise -- the biggest two-day percentage gain since 9-10 June. Prices rose as much as $1.83 to $75.90 per barrel earlier, the highest intraday price since 30 June.

Petrobras gets $1.47bn for vessel buy

Brazil's national development bank BNDES agreed to lend state-run oil company Petrobras 2.6 billion reais ($1.47 billion) to buy seven shipping vessels, the bank said today.

 

The agreement was signed with Petrobras's shipping unit Petrobras Transporte, or Transpetro, BNDES said in a statement, Reuters reported. The loan advances Petrobras 90% of the cost of the construction of four Suezmax and three Aframax tankers, which will be used to transport crude oil and derivative products. They will be built in the northeastern state of Pernambuco by shipbuilder Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS), a company owned by three Brazilian companies, including Camargo Correa, a diversified construction company. EAS launched its first ever ship, a Suezmax also destined for Petrobras, in May this year. The target is for the ships to comprise around 70% locally produced parts, instead of the normal 60% target, because the steel used to build them will be sourced within Brazil, the statement said. The Suezmax will each have capacity to carry 153,000 tonnes of cargo and the Aframax, 107,500 tonnes. Though Brazil might be able to source vessels abroad at a lower cost, it is pursuing a policy of procuring ships and platforms from domestic industry to create jobs and spread around an anticipated rise in revenue from oil in the coming years.

Stochastic shows that its already over-sold and about to reverse up. Selling now is no-no to me. Now is definitely not the time to sell.

Kep Corp is also very close to its strong support level of $8.30. There is very strong support here and limited down slide. I don't think it'll fall too much from here.

Although Stochastic shows it's about to reverse up, but MACD line is still pointing down. I'll wait for the MACD to shows a sign of reversal before I start buying.

Kep Corp is a very safe stock. It has very strong balance sheet, good revenue, profit and cash flow.

Just hold and wait for the best time to start buying. I don't think you have to worry much about this counter.
