petrol leakage at car not a problem, but gas tank inside the boot could be hazardous. many flats and hawker centre explosion due to gas leakage were happened in spore. Years ago 2 separate gas truck explosion accident, one near the beach, I think one of the EU countrie and one at the busy district at Thailand. The foam of fire during the explosion, killing more than 200 persons each incidence, within 100m radii. nonetheless both gas leak and traffic accident, swee swee one lah. now worry |

eh, tanglinboy, you don't really have to worry about explosions. For one thing, the flash point for CNG is like, 1,100 degrees celsius. While petrol (gasoline) is only 250 degrees celsius. (the flash point refers to the lowest temperature at which the substance can form an ignitable mixture with air). ie, you have a much higher chance of dying in a petroleum-driven car flameball than in a CNG flameball. besides, the tanks are not that easy to pierce or rupture. also, as a gas, it'd immediately dissipate into the environment. unlike petrol, which will puddle and pool on the ground, hence forming a more dangerous environment in the event of sparks from the engine during an accident. and no, i don't drive. ![]() |

Yes you are right. I've thought of this. That's why i did not convert. I believe it is high inflammable if it gets hit. Scary.... In addition, if CNG gets popular, and demand goes up==> back to square one, will be expensive again. The best way to conserve is to drive less or don't drive at all!

I think wait first. I'll drive my car till its 10th year so I have about 5 more years to go. I think by then there will be more "green cars" to look at. I guess quite a few rushed to buy a new car expecting a higher COE after the recent government plans for the transport system but it has turned out to be the reverse. |

At this rate of oil price increase, I think the higher cc engine cars will have few buyers. COE will drop even further! | ||||

I got one big worry about CNG cars. They will install a big CNG tank in the boot. What happens if I get into an accident and the CNG tank ruptures? Will it be dangerous?

Example 1: For rich in $$$ people, they just don't care what time is right. My boss just changed from a Lexus 430 to Lexus 460, 3 weeks ago. They changed without blinking an eye, just do not care what is pump price. He told me, he did not want car loan at first, but Borneo Motor insist need to take a min of 1 year loan. Example 2: My neighbour a working class manager in a MNC, used to drive a BMW 3 series, now a day, I saw his car park in the car park most of the time. Check with his wife, "went oversea?", wife replied : "take public transport, support Go Green, Save Environment". And I believe this car is still on installment. Conclusion : Got $$$, just don't care what is petrol price or Green Environment, they continue to go big size car ! The issues is the $$$ question la! My advice for those want to buy car now, think carefully, for working class, buying a car is a long term commitment. Don't forget every month servicing on car park, coupons, insurance, road tax, petrol price. Depends whether you ready need or not. I still think that parking the $$$ in bank is safe for me and always stretched my arm to get a taxi is quite ok and cheaper solution. This is just my few cents of thought. Take care and good luck. |

COE drop is not unexpected due to high oil prices and uncertain stock market condition. I think COE will drop further. |
