""The 'through train' is not delayed or halted. Mainland officials are already studying the details of the policy,"" the newspaper quoted Hong Kong Association of Banks chairman Peter Sullivan as saying. ""All preparatory work is still in progress and officials do not want to make an abrupt decision."" The group and Hong Kong Monetary Authority chief executive Joseph Yam yesterday discussed the investment scheme with People's Bank of China deputy governor Su Ning in Shanghai, the report said. The China Banking Regulatory Commission's Shanghai vice president Tan Weixian also attended the meeting. Hong Kong shares posted their biggest ever one-day loss on November 5 after China Premier Wen Jiabao set conditions for the implementation of the program, raising fears it would be delayed further. The local stock market has scaled record highs since the program was announced on August 20 as investors hoped that Chinese citizens would buy Hong Kong-listed shares of Chinese companies because they are cheaper than their mainland counterparts. Before Wen's statement sent chills down investors' spines, the Hang Seng Index reached an all-time high of 31,958.41 points on October 30. (1 US dollar = 7.80 Hong Kong dollars)

Gross margin rose from 19.1%(3Q06) to 26.6% as it reaps the benefit of the rise in shipbuilding prices. Net profit clocked a 68% y-o-y growth to RMB224.7m. �� Point: The 3QFY07 numbers have boosted our confidence in YZJ?s overall margin sustainability. We raise our FY07 net earnings estimate by 15.2% and FY08 net earnings estimate by 14.2% on better margins. �� Relevance: Backed by a record orderbook of USD5.5bn, representing 11.5x its FY07 revenue, this underpins earnings visibility till FY10. Maintain Buy and our TP of S$3.04, which is pegged to 28x FY09 PE. Post the recent correction in share price, valuation is undemanding at 26.4x(FY08) and 19x(FY09) vs its three-year EPS CAGR of 47% up till FY09. Excellent 3Q07 performance. The 3QFY07 numbers have boosted our confidence in YZJ?s overall margin sustainability. We raise our FY07 net earnings estimate by 15.2% and FY08 net earnings estimate by 14.2%. We have lowered our steel cost assumption as the Group is utilising the downpayment to lock in steel prices. Our gross margins have therefore been lifted to 24.2% (vs our previous assumption of 19.5%) and 21.4% (vs 18.5%) for FY07 and FY08 respectively. Strong order wins momentum. YTD contract wins for the Group amounted to USD3.5bn or RMB25.9bn with an outstanding order book of USD5.5bn or RMB40.7bn. The group has consistently secured new contracts of close to USD1bn/quarter over the past three quarters, driven by exceptionally strong demand for containerships in the 1H07 and subsequently, bulkers in the 2H07. The orders momentum seems intact, evidenced by recent wins of US$600m in the month of October. Further expansion to ride current shipbuilding boom. The Group indicated that they are making good progress in acquiring additional yard space in JingJiang City. This will potentially increase yard capacity by 350,000 sq metres and deepwater coastline by 430 metres, which would be used as a manufacturing base to construct big vessel components and accessories. Production capacity will be increased by 40% in 2008 when the construction is completed.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Singapore-listed Yangzijiang Q3 net profit up 67.6 pct on higher turnover      11/12/2007 6:41:00 PM  SINGAPORE (Thomson Financial) - Chinese shipbuilder Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (Holdings) Ltd said Monday its third-quarter net profit rose 67.6 percent to 224.7 million yuan from a year ago, driven by higher revenue with more vessels being built and delivered. Revenue in the quarter grew 70.8 percent to 884 million yuan. Earnings were also boosted by a 30 million yuan gain in unrealized fair valuation of forward currency contracts and 8 million yuan from the sale of financial assets, it said. For the nine months to September, net profit rose 64.1 percent to 554.1 million. Revenue in the period grew 51.1 percent to 2.3 billion yuan. Going forward, the company said it is stepping up its bid to acquire more yard space in JingJiang city to meet the needs of the shipbuilding industry.
