PARKWAY, macq upgraded to NEUTRAL from Underperform with target price $3.86 - We upgrade Parkway Holdings to Neutral from Underperform given its recent share price weakness. We raise our sum-of-the-parts target price by 4% to S$3.86. - Parkway announced 2Q07 net profit of S$25.4m, better than our expectation of S$20m due to a stronger Singapore contribution, where revenue grew by 35% YoY and EBITDA by 17% YoY. - The results were also driven by strong contribution from the company's international hospitals and healthcare services segments. On a like-for-like comparison, EBITDA grew by 42% YoY and 43% YoY, respectively. - Parkway Life REIT (PLR) will list on 23 August following its IPO on 13-17 August. Parkway shareholders will be given an allocation of 1 unit in PLR for every 20 Parkway shares held at S$1.28/, total of 29.431m units as the TPG group does not get this preferential offering. - An unchanged quarterly dividend of S2¢ was declared, payable on 10 September. We believe a special dividend in the 3Q07 results is likely after the listing of PLR. - The shares corrected by 15% since late May. We expect core earnings growth of 25% pa over the next three years on the back of higher intensity cases in Singapore. A successful IPO of PLR should raise funds for further investments in its healthcare business in the region, which we have not assumed in our current forecasts. We upgrade Parkway Holdings to Neutral from Underperform. |

The buyers were nowhere to be seen today...I think would need to hold out till Aug when the picture of the much publicised spin off of a hospital REIT becomes clearer...paitence is a virtue.....

TA charts show some bearish signals.... Acc/Dist and Chaikin are dropping. Price has also cut the lower bollinger band. All bad signs.

Big drop in price after FMR and Matthews International Capital Management ceased to be substantial shareholders. Opportunity to buy in again. |

South-east Asia's biggest healthcare group by market value has hired Citigroup and UBS to arrange the listing of a Singapore property trust based on its hospitals, sources close to the deal said. The initial portfolio would contain Parkway's 3 hospitals in Singapore, which earned a combined $356m in revenue last year. Parkway Holdings was up as much as 5% to a new high of $4.66 on the news. The IPO could happen before Aug, said a source close to transaction. DBS is also expected to join the deal as an arranger. In Feb, Parkway said it may divest the 3 hospitals into a Reit when it finds a substantial acquisition target. A dealer from Kim Eng said the move would allow Parkway to free up capital to expand its business or be paid out to shareholders. |

It plans to set up medical hubs in Asia sometime in the future, and the company is laying the foundations for this network by building up its reputation here and developing relationships with various health care organizations. Managing director Lim Cheok Peng told XFN-Asia in a recent interview that Parkway's intention was that one hub should be here, and that there would be another for Northeast Asia and another for the Middle East. "For the moment, it is only Singapore. The rest are potentials, and ideally we should be in these markets where there are big demands for services there. So perhaps, over the next 3-5 years, they will be somewhere we want to be in." Parkway has hospitals here and in Malaysia, Brunei and India. For now, Lim said, the company is focussing on improving the services it offers here. It recently opened its new $3 mln dedicated liver center at the Gleneagles Hospital and Lim believes that it is initiatives such as this that will help set the hospital apart from its competitors. "It is important [to have] specialist centers. With a general hospital, it is difficult to market your specialized services," Lim said. Parkway is also working on improving the "software" of its hospitals by holding discussions between its doctors and their counterparts elsewhere in Asia to exchange ideas and approaches to clinical care. These exchanges allow doctors elsewhere in Asia to understand more clearly what kind of services Parkway offers, Lim said. He said this was the first step towards a higher level of cooperation and partnership, as exemplified by the second annual physicians' conference it recently held here with the United Arab Emirates Medical Association. Lim said the next move would be for doctors in the Emirates to refer patients to Singapore, and then, gradually, if the opportunity arose, for doctors here to export their know-how to the Emirates. Lim said there were "offers on the table" for partnerships in the Emirates and that his company was taking its time studying the feasibility of these offers, with no deadline in mind. About 240 patients a year come here from the Emirates for treatment, and Parkway hopes that the number will keep growing as Singapore builds a reputation as a medical hub. Parkway's three hospitals in Singapore deal with 60-70% of the foreigners who come here for treatment. Lim said his company was still looking at the possibility of launching a health-care-related real estate investment trust, although it was in no hurry to set one up. |

Not aware of the report. Sounds positive but not sure how it will operate. I have sold my holding. A trailing stop may be a good way to go. |

Thanks Allan for your insight. Very good analysis indeed. Btw, a report juz now speculated that PW may set up Hospital REIT. Does it help in its price? Thank again. |

If you wish to continue to hold, you may also set a trailing stop at $2.75 and see how it goes. Just a suggestion. |
