Recently I read that they would re-enter into partnership to run the Shanghai Equatorial Hotel in a new agreement when the current one expired in Nov 2013. Continuing to receive the licence fees for using the " Equatorial" Name, and enjoying the profits of the hotel if it makes money or share its losses if it lose. For the renewal after expiry, they would receive about $8 million from the equity. Quite interesting to understand the way they went in and out and then get some money while still have the business, i.e. eating the cake and still have it. Fantastic business strategy!! Counter is still cheap and should be good for long term, but it is still in debt to its " parents." but have slowly paid off nearly S$20 mil already from sometime back. Understand the business and do your own research, as this is not a call to buy or sell.

This Hong Leong counter is not moving la so only call HLG. Not profitable for many years keep. The China business is too competitive and Malaysia also neither here or there. With so many high profile managment and BM also cannot move the counter. How to make a serious attempt? Already do so many attempts on capitalization.... | ||

Unfortunately, I can't see any weight placed on reputation of the " Hong Leong" flagship, after a year leh. Luckily sold off at 8 cents at the height of the May rally. I don't like the company, but actually I love the hotels they operate in several cities. Good breakfasts, and well provided rooms and other services., but I heard some are really making good money. Only the management of the group are more spendthrift so if you invest, I advise to look out for buy signals. Probably they would make some serious attempts in the not too distant future.

But with money, coming in from the sale of their KL property (LKN Wisma), money will mean alot for HLG to play some good show after several years of hardship. $8.5 million coming in can do alot of business, right? I hope some thing good could and and should be done. This Hong Leong flagship means alot of reputation for the giant corporation. | ||
