if the dividend is 5% Ex on the 8th May, then I think the price will shoot up at least 5% before this date?  Am I right to interpret it this way? | ||||

Shipbuilding revenue continues to slide. Yangzijiang (YZJ) reported weaker1Q13 revenue of CNY2,867b (-22% YoY, -20% QoQ) and corresponding PATMI of CNY717m (-30% YoY, -11% QoQ), generally within market expectations. The weaker set of results was due primarily to a 26% YoY decline in shipbuilding revenue, mitigated partially by a 27% YoYrise in contribution from Held-to-maturity (HTM) investments.1Q13 saw cancellation of one additional shipbuilding contract bringing total number of cancellations to 5. YZJ now has three 2,500 TEU containerships for resale.Maintain Hold, TP of SGD0.93.
Margins were sustained but could trend lower. Shipbuilding gross margin was sustained at 26%,helped byitsorder intake discipline and lower raw material prices this quarter. However, as higher margin contracts get depleted from its orderbook, we foresee margins trending lowerfrom FY14F. Although YZJ believes that newbuild prices have bottomed, it is still too early to expect an uptrend in prices. Subdued order win outlook. YTD order wins amounted to USD597m and outstanding orderbookstands at USD3.31b, comprising of 65 vessels. YZJ aims to deliver 42 of these vessels in FY13F. Managementalso sees afairly strong possibility that Seaspan would convert another 6-8 of its options which we estimate could add another USD480-640m to orderbook. YZJ may stand to benefit from the greater number of enquiriesfor eco-ships,given that it has developed a range of products under this category. We expect USD1.3b in new contract wins this year. No near-term catalysts yet. We like YZJ for its well thought out strategy and strong financial position to combat the shipbuilding downturn. However, itstill needs to depend on non-core businesses to supplement weak shipbuilding business in the near-term. As shipping outlook remains subdued, there are no positive catalysts in sight. Maintain Hold. We cut FY13-14F earnings by 4-8% as we adjust recognition schedule and also account for higher taxes. Maintain Hold with SOTP-based TP of SGD0.93. From what I heard, the loan return rate of china is something like below: 1~5% 国 债 4~12% 基 础 建 设 债 5~15% 城 市 发 展 债 12~20% 险 企 债 The loan return rate is lower then India for infrastructure and city building, I heard in India,  people can easily getting return of 13% or even more from this loan.

1. I think my previous question is more of  whether  10-12% interest from government is normal and reasonable to believe? 3.  http://www.nextinsight.net/index.php/story-archive-mainmenu-60/912-2011/4199-yangzijiang-shipbuilder-by-day-financier-by-night " CFO Liu Hua explained how Yangzijiang took advantage of high deposit rates in China and low borrowing rates in the US to generate interest income as a measure against China's severe inflationary environment of 6% to 7%"   Does this mean that if the USD appreciates against CNY, they might potentially suffer rate loss in this segment?

Doing my due diligence on YZJ. I have a question guys. YZJ is using HTM to weather the shipbuilding down cycle. The HTM yields reported by their CFO Liu Hua seems to be 10-12%. 10-12% is pretty high even if they are loans to China government bodies.(http://www.nextinsight.net/index.php/story-archive-mainmenu-60/919-2013/6500-yangzijiang-5-ct-dividend-despite-profit-decline) (http://www.tradingeconomics.com/china/interest-rate)  The latest time I checked, China long term loans are about 6-7%.   1. How do they get " safe" interest yields of 10-12% from government bodies? 2. What percentage forms up the loans to government bodies vs micro financing business? (in case I miss out some data points from their financial report, someone please enlighten)  |

When YZJ offer warrant to citi group, there were rumor flying around and YZJ share price got hit badly. I wrote an e-mail to Ren YuanLing, asked him to clarify via SGX announcement whether YZJ was encountering cash flow issue or other problems. He reacted by buying 1000 lots of YZJ via market purchase. He really shut me up. lol.
