Look on the positive side .... Buy when stocks are down now. When it picks up after world cup, sell when everyone is buying. |

World Cup matches are not played during S'pore market trading hours, but played during US market trading hours. So if the Americans are watching, then their market will suffer and so will Asian markets. When Wall Street sneezes, everybody else catches a cold. |

Those thinking the bear market will continue for a long long time, take heart in the write-up in Business in Today (9June).. For those who missed it, extracts of the write-up are reproduced below: The Singapore market is likely to lapse into dullness over the next five weeks. The market this time may not experience as bad a dip as before, market watchers told Today. (Afternote: Will brokers still take leave when they are unable to view the late-night or odd hours World Cup matches on channel 39 now and Starhub charges extra for those who wish to watch World Cup matches live?) "This is probably the best World Cup (market)", said Mr Gabriel Yap, Phillip Securities, senior dealing director. He recalled the 1998 season when Asia was mired in a regional financial crisis that led the STI to plunge to 800 points. At the time of the 2002 World Cup, the market was reeling from the dot.com bust. (Afternote: This means that the 2006 market is healthy, unlike in 2002 when the correction coincided with the World Cup.) This time, "the stock market has corrected in anticipaton of the World Cup, people have sold down, expecting lacklustre activity, so the market is NOT likely to go down dramatically," a broker said. For more details, please look for a back copy of the write-up in page 46 of "Today" (9 June) |

STI had a strong parabolic climb, as a result the fall that was strong was expected, which was the same action for Silver recently if you guys played futures. I'm still going with a bear till my support level mentioned before, and consolidate from there. I'm sticking with a rebound coming up in the coming weeks or days. I'm aiming for a rebound at around 2355 if possible. And at the same time betting on a positive open for S&P500 futures on monday.. Lets see if I win big or lose on monday futures... |

Sorry, just to add one more fact. Just pointing out there is data error in ShareJunction chart on 06 March 2006 also got voted as bad post. I am not an expert in blog or website, so I just address it to the webmaster. I am also worry for newbies to TA as they may interpret wrongly because wrong data. |

Hi everyone, It looks like someone is going around to mark bad posts for many members today. In one day I lost 11 points. We are all amateur and trying to share our thoughts, not showing off what we think is correct. If this carry on like this, many will not share their strategy for small fish like us. Small fish can survive only if they are united to share their strategies. Otherwise we will be eaten up by the big fish. |

In a bear mkt, all ships, boats or sampans, even big fish has to swim at lower expectation, buy/sell or hold, happy trading within your mean. In a bull mkt, like wise, all expectation will rise. What is own today can double tomorro, happy bottom fishing, cheap can be even cheaper. |

Hi david_fx, I actually share the same view as you. I feel that this is generally a bear envrionment now. Too many things are affecting the global stock markets adversely. Interest rates, oil prices etc.. Hopefully, things will improve after the end of this month. |

Hi Webmaster of ShareJunction, Pls note that many of your data on 06 March 2006 isare wrong, having zero as the data. It is in the ST Index, HL Asia plus many others. So if we zoom out , the graph practically occupied only a small portion on the top because of the zero data on 06 March 2006. It is also dangerously if some members did not zoom out, may interpret wrongly due to that zero data affecting MA and other TA indicators. IT would good if you would kindly correct that zero data. Thanks. |

Since the downfall began, I had always maintained a nice correction outlook. But ever since Friday's action on 9 June, I have changed my view from a correction to a bear. The downward strength has been really strong, though I was not around for some of the action. The major support level that I'm looking at is at 2190, if it breaches this, its the end of the STI. Right now my portfolio is still on the positive end, so I'm not that worried about it. The summer has been a period of bear for major markets. Having played futures, currencies and equities, I'm betting on an interest rate hike and a pause by the Fed. P.S. : Might be taking a bet on Starhub, though it looks to good to be through in such a choppy market. But that's my best bet so far. |
