If oni Capland and Kepland can get their act together, a sure win win for both, nothing to lose out one, together with d angmo, then both their share will be up by another almost double or at least 50% liao. |

Be contrarian on this. The favourite won't get it. It is just a smokescreen for the real players behind the scene. I tend to believe it would be unthinkable for a GLC consortium to fail to get at least one of the IRs. Politically, it could create future problems --- both IRs in foreign hands.... you mean a future growth driver (ie. tourism) is to be driven by efforts of foreigners, with no government leverage? Economically, it makes sense to hedge; a non-GLC consortium with a GLC consortium. Now market watchers believe that merit is the sole consideration. You think so? Think again. That's what they'd like you to believe. At the end of the day, the intangibles must come into play; remember that government policies cannot be driven by economic objectives alone. |

I would not vote for Genting as it will more or less have same ideas as in KL hilltop. Just look at Star Cruise, what is inside Star Cruise is more or less the same as Genting except at smaller scale. Pretty boring. It does not make commercial sense as it will fighting with its parent base. I would prefer a totally different ideas from far away places. Looks like either Capland or Kepland will get it this time due to 1) the world would not say that govt sides their home co. as the marina IR is given to Sands which has no govt partner. 2) Different ideas from their partners from faraway land. |

I'm glad Capitaland and Kepland were not badly bruised in their failed bid to get the IR bid in Marina. I hope one of them gets the Sentosa one. Support Singapore companies!! Not sure what are the implications if Genting gets the Sentosa bid. Excerpt from Asia1 - "Malaysia's Genting and partner Star Cruises are regarded by many analysts as the favourite for Sentosa." |
