I am also not sure why I need two accounts under same brokerage firm and same broker. Recently I met a broker from poems and he asked me to open an account under him. He encourages to trade online and informed that if necessary can call him to do the trading. May be it is the time to open an account with his trading platform.

My stocks are under CDP holdings. Both my online and offline accounts are linked with the CDP account. Technically I can use any of the accounts to sell those stocks. My request to him was to use my off line account to sell my stocks. Moreover my online account also under him, so he can see the stock movement in that. My broker's claim was that "the platform you use to buy , the platform you must use to sell. When I pointed to him that I sold a stock through online account which was bought by him. He immediately checked and informed me that there may some error so that I was able to sell it. I am aware that his intentions are not correct. Any way today I requested my brokerage firm to change the broker. If necessary I may open account in another security firm. Thanks for your valuable comment.

Not sure which brokerage you're using, but mine did help me sell shares that I had bought online. As long as you have the shares, there shouldn't be a problem...*my one pence worth*

That was a frustrating situation! Just wondering: Maybe can post a general question to that brokerage firm, whether a broker can also help a client sell stocks that was purchased via online acct. That way, minimise any misunderstanding.

You can see a good and bad employee in every working place. It is not advisable to rate an employer with one employee's behavior. As such i am not going to name the brokerage firm. A simple solution is to get rid of him. There are aplenty to serve us. Thanks for sharing your comment.

First we should list all their tricks and bad intentions. I think the brokers will become jealous when you make money and so by hook or by crook he will attempt to see you losing. This is the first lesson one must learn. | ||||

Many times I have told forumers that all "professional" people in the stock markets are but de facto professionals only. They are as human as hom sapiens and they have greed and self-first attitude instead of customers first. He makes more commission when he sell off-line, so he chose not to sell for your online shares because he didn't made extra from them. But he forgot that he can still make half of that extra. Another reason is that he did not value your business too much. Heck to him. Get another broker. |

Thanks keepnosecrets and risktaker for your kind reply. Last friday I want to sell all my stock holdings (all under CDP) to escape from this correction. But unfortunately I didn't have access to internet connection. So I called my broker to sell all the holdings. He sold all the stocks which he bought for me but refused to sell remaining stocks which were bought by me using my online account (same broker for both my security accounts). Then with my friend's help I log on to my account and sold remaining stocks. My feeling was that he is forcing me to use his service rather than using my online account. I can call my brokerage firm to clarify this doubt, but it may affect my broker and I don't want that to happen. I decided to change my broker and the application is ready. Before I send the application I want know whether his action is correct or wrong. At any cost my action should not affect him that is the reason I put up my query here. Please notify me if I am wrong. |

I have no details of the policies of other brokerage firms, but with mine, my account is still under the management of my broker. The only difference where my account is concerned is that, its cheaper for me buy/sell online. But I'm sure it's still possible to have your broker buy/sell your stocks, particularly if you are out of Singapore and unable to find an internet connection to transact.

I'll put it simply other way. I want to sell my stock holdings which were bought using my online account few months back. Can I call my broker to sell those stocks. |
