i miss the days where the air is much cleaner in singapore. I use to be able to see sky filled with stars .... now i cant see it anymore. Kinda miss it | ||||

Use less especially those unncessary things. I do not buy any canned drinks during the year (except during CNY for some guests). I also do not buy bottle drinks (except CNY, again for guests) or water, either drink from taps or just boiled water or tea. If we can start with ourselves and try to encourage 1 friend a day (note the multiplying effect) to use less of bottle drinks either canned or plastic bottles, I think the world will be better. Likewise use less of styrofoam for packet foods. All these will also benefit our health. Sorry, the bussiness community will not like me. They will say that I spoil their bussiness. | ||||

In my visits to a senior's home, there was this very bright 90 year old lady. We were talking about cakes and pastries, and then we moved to the topic of environmental degradation - how oil riggers were dumping chemicals and acids into the seas, how mercury in the oceans were poisoning the fish that we eat for sushi (that's why people suffer from mercury poisoning from eating too much sushi), how man uses explosives in the seas that kill all marine life (including dolphins and coral reefs) to fish, how man has been overfishing with big trawlers (resulting in what marine biologists predict will be the depletion of fish by 2050), how defenceless factory farm animals continue to suffer under their cruel masters, (see http://www.heart4animals.com ) how all the ice in the North and South Pole would be melted, how islands would disappear under the rising oceans.... she smiled knowingly and raised her hand to me, with an eerie smile, and asked me : are you ready ? The end of the world will be marked by all kinds of disasters and calamities as you are seeing now. Are you ready? |

The era of human will be ending if we dont stop/roll back what we are doing right now. Everyone play a part. Each of us contribute carbon in some ways. We have to control our growth and seriously practice the 3 Rs ... Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Stop using plastic bags, Bring your own recycle bags to shop. Turn off Air-Con, Take more public transport, use biodegradable products we have to educate everyone about this. I fear very extreme weather gonna hit us pretty soon. All the warning sign is here. I really hope i am wrong ...... We have to REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. WE HAVE TO ROLL BACK NOW OR ELSE ITS TOO LATE. |

for a start may be all of us shld walk or cycle if the distance...that r short ...to cut down carbon emission........try stopping the use of aircon....and the use of water heater,.......some ppl i know..turn their aircon max.....then bath with hot water,,,,funny rite.......i think if one sleep without aircon...than it is not neccessary to bath in hot water,,,,,start from ourself to save our self...than the earth will have a chance..if not...even we ourself is not making that little effort to change then...there is no use and no chance of ....our great grand children....to see a beautiful and liveable earth........ |

Only the human race is at stake or entire living thing ? This problem started because of the human but other living things also suffering. So it is time to play our part. According to a 2006 United Nations initiative, the livestock industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental degradation worldwide. Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_vegetarianism So reducing consumption of animal products will help to reduce CO2 production and also reduce the suffering of the animals. Recently I read a report on poultry farms that male chickens are crushed to death once they are hatched since they cannot lay eggs. So when we are going to reduce meat consumption??????

I do care a lot.......thats why i send every possible things that can be recycled to recycle collector. Cow's waste can turn into energy, so , eat less beef plse...........AMERICAN is the highest beef consumer...... |
