Maybe they were trying to stop genting price from advancing or trying to create panic. So that peoples start to sell. But looks like genting is well defended.

Here is my point: Everyone here buy shares with one same goal. That is to make money. But how to make money?. Everyone has their own understanding and believes, methods and strategies. My way is : Try to understand peoples thinking and believe, methods and strategies. What I means is just go with the flow. Don't go against the flow. Simple as that. |

Original meaning of equities is supposed to be viewed as investing in part-ownership in businesses. Just that many investors have either ignored or are misconstrued about this original meaning. That is why many investors play the stock market like nobody's business by trading freely the shares of a company. Because of this free and easy trading of shares, that is why the stock market is so dynamic and sometimes shares of companies can be either undervalued (due to fear factor) or overvalued (due to greed and hope factors). However, over the long term, if one examines closely enough, only excellent companies remain on the SGX and their stock price continue to increase over the years (with the growth of the stock's underlying business and earnings profitability). This increase in stock price of a growth story may or may not be phenomenal, but it comes surely (e.g. observe the three Singapore banks, Keppel Corp, Wilmar International as some companies that continue to grow their business values). Other companies that didn't make it really didn't make it and got phased out eventually (though their share prices may have been pushed up due to them being "popular" stocks during their reign) (I quote some of the hot China stocks that were popular for a while and then ran into problems with their businesses). So, "popular stock" may not mean "good stock" for investment. "Quiet stock" may not mean "lousy stock". Eventually, the weak ones will be phased out while the strong one remains independent of popularity. Popularity does not save a stock in which the underlying business is not performing. Eventually, it has to realise it's fundamentals and it's stock price follows it's fundamentals. This is cold hard truth which one has to recognise even if one does not accept. <Before ending off......Consider why SAR is so hot recently and it's price pushed up.......It is because of it's spate of good news (it has secured a coal mine in Indonesia to allow it to boost it's production capacity......If this company released bad news, will it's stock price shoot up like what it is doing now? It is still afterall fundamentals pushing the sentiments and all sentiments will have to converge back to fundamentals eventually, like it or not.......> |

Equities are all based on FUTURE. If based on fundamental, all banks are DEBTS + pennies. All BANKS are BUBBLES and they have NO MONEY you know!?#@ Based on fundamental, SIA and NOL and SGX are pennies now. Previous Crisis when SGX was valuated on fundamental, it was worth only cents and DOLLARS like TODAY. SGX is nothing bust just a network of wires and regulations [In China, they call Writings on the WALL] If based on fundamental, every stock holder should SELL down all stocks TODAY. Equities is ALL about FUTURE. If based on fundamental, HOW can Singapore property be worth S$5,000psf whereas JB FREEHOLD is only RM300psf? Will Americans be ABLE to PAY BACK ALL THE DEBTS!? If you THINK Americans will NOT be able to pay back ALL the DEBTS, SELL all your stocks TODAY!? THINK! THINK fundamental! or THINK FUTURE! THNIK short! or THINK LONG! |

Just be careful when doing investments. Remember the internet and tech bubble craze and crash some years back. Even renowed investors like George Sorros got burnt betting that this class of stocks will continue to soar even higher after they were already grossly overvalued, and when it did crash he got burnt. There are also many investors who did not manage to exit these "hot stocks" then and so is currently still stuck with these stocks at depressed prices. The price of a security ultimately has to be priced according to the value of it's earnings and assets. The internet and tech stocks craze and crash is a testimony to this basic fundmental fact. So, the future price target of a security must be based on it's perceived fundamentals going forward and not just "tikam tikam price target" which may or may not be realised. Even if a price target is realised eventually, if the company fundamentals do not warrant such price targets, this stock price may not last long and if one is not careful, the drop in price back to fair valued price (based on future earnings) may be hurting for some investors who chase after the particular stock's price. |

Many of my Workmates asking me. Should they buy Genting sp? My answer given was "I don't know". Business of Genting has not started yet. We don't know what is going to happen. Profit or loss, it's all depend on imigination or your own vision. Hard to tell. |
