As far as I can remember, I was told that fixed-D and saving interest are taxable. We need not declare because it will be automatically done by them.

Repost from victorf (posted on2 Jun) for easy ref. it is by no means conicidence that last friday index close at 3192 as it is parking for traders to look for sign of US market for it to break through.....as said before, market will move higher high till 18th July and 3192 will be broken (whether through 1,2 or 3 attempts)...good luck :)

Cathy, Dun worry too much abt 2979. It was a subtle clue to me - 2980.6 was a strong resistance today. My tip - for tomorrow watch STI at 2977 zone, if it breaks out, 2997 is the next key resistance. If that resistance also breaks, well, we should see a small calf (I wouldn't call it a bull yet) running around.

dun worry lah, don't declare your trading, no tax one. basically, the logic is if you win you pay tax to IR, what happen u lose money, IR will pay u??? Only Div IR will tax u, less those tax free div, all is auto with CDP, no hassle one. just relax lah. same with unit trust and bonds but not FD as FD bao cheak one. putting you $ below 100k at POSB no need to declare in your tax return but more than 100k, u need. but for other banks any interest u rcv you hv to declare. BTW, if your annual FD interest is below 20k and you are a retiree like me , then don't bother loh, unless your annual stock div and FD interest added together is more than 20k then you hv to declare leow. |

Dear Experts - I have a fundamental question. Its regarding tax. I have been dabbling in the market from Jan this year. I know its not been the best time for an amateur to get in :-). I have made some small change, and haven't burned my fingers that badly. Thanks to all of you. I have a basic question. how does the tax work on this. Short Term Capital Gains? I know some dividends like Keppel Corp come to you after standard tax deduction, so no need to worry about that. What about gains from simple trades on stocks? how does one account for it. Also, I am pretty bad at keeping track, so does the CDP finally give out the taxable gains for calculation or is this something we have to declare after doing our own math? Thanks in advance |

Thanks. Like to share which companies that have bottomed out? I think one of them is capitalland which i got 1 lot just to try try. One analyst report mentioned that STI should have bottomed out at around 2980. 2nd support at 2930. Rally support 3070. Bearish momentum is unlikely to be there. Seems to mean ST will ding dong between current level to 3100.

wah ha, yes, CWQuah, noble is very good for intraday/short term scalps. ![]() personally i'm looking for one-three month holding now tho, too lazy to do intraday/less than 5 days. ![]() ![]() btw, i should add: currently in my watchlist, there are no banks in there. fundamental-wise, not worth a play in global bad sentiment. technical-wise, value-for-dollar yield doesn't rationally make any of the three good plays. call from friday/week before still holds as via current trends: that some stocks have bottomed out. kira, nope, not a financial analyst. anyone wants to give me a job? muah ha. and yups ipunter/cwquah, today's not a day for shorting. technical terms: OHLC = open, high, low, close. they are what forms your candlesticks. BUSD = buy up sell down data. where you see min by min/sec by sec the exact no: of lots bought/sold at each px and each time. |
