Recklessfire, your understanding is correct . One addition information for you is , most people do not like to hold odd lot. So it is advisable for you to apply 200 EXCESS RIGHTS, making your final number of shares to 4000. Although there is no assurance of company approving tyour application of EXCESS rights, they give you high priority when they allocate excess rights, for your case of 3800, it is very high chance of getting the 200 excess rights , the excess rights had the same rights issue price of 1.09 |

oh, if you care more for dividend yield, go see those shipping trust.. they were in 30% annual order.. but their share price was sold down far too much due to 'risks of ship financing, blah blah blah' . You may want to check Rickmers, FSL, etc

1)For those who bought Kepland share before Cum Div, they are entitled to 8cents divident per share? CORRECT However, if the person hold till XR, he is entitled to 9 nil-paid rights with every 10 shares. But if he opt for nil-paid rights, he will not be eligible for the 8 cents divident. WRONG, since ex-div date is 28 April, already past, this person already get his dividend, nothing to do with Rights 2)If he sell his Kepland share now under CR, he is eligible for the divident? Yes, ex-div was 28 April 3)If he hold till XR, he can get 9 nil-paid rights for every 10 shares.CORRECT He can sell the nil-paid rights on the rights trading day and gain some pocket money while still holding the mother shares? YES 4) Can he buy rights from the market when rights trading and excercise later to convert to mother share by paying $1.09 per rights? CAN |

Home > Breaking News > Money > Story May 7, 2009 Wall Street extends gains NEW YORK - WALL Street posted solid gains on Wednesday as a better-than-expected survey on US private-sector job losses helped ease jitters over upcoming results of 'stress tests' on the banking system. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average traded up 102.99 points (1.22 per cent) to 8,513.64, in a choppy session. The Nasdaq composite edged up 4.98 points (0.28 per cent) to 1,759.10 and the broad-market Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 15.95 points (1.73 per cent) to a preliminary close of 919.45. The market got a lift from a survey by private payrolls firm ADP that the US private sector shed 491,000 jobs in April, fewer than expected by analysts and offering further support for the notion that the recession is easing. 'This news is encouraging for the market since it fits the bottoming-out thesis,' said Patrick O'Hare at Briefing.com. 'However, it isn't much cause for economic celebration that 'only' 491,000 positions were lost in the private sector in April.' This helped ease pre-market jitters amid reports that Bank of America may need to raise as much as US$34 billion in capital to meet the requirements of the US government stress tests. Gregory Drahuschak at Janney Montgomery Scott said the banking sector led the rally, calling the gains due to 'a sigh of relief that the test results finally might be out of the way.' -- AFP |

wow, so many theories.. Dr Doom recently said U...published in May 4 Newseek. Q By Lally Weymouth: So you are still Dr. Doom? Ans by Nouriel Roubini: No, I am not Dr. Doom. I am Dr. Realist. I don't believe we are going to end up in a near depression, Six months ago I was more worried about an L-shaped near depression. Today, after the very aggressive policy actions taken by the U.S. and other countries, the risk of that near-depression L has been reduced from 30 percent to 15 or 20 percent. We are instead in the middle of a U. ========= |

The letter is NOT yet ready during this period of cum-rights trading. Because many people will SELL away mother share with Rights.Once the trading is Ex-rights, they will sort out before the BCD ( book closure date) and send letters to inform those who are entitled to the nil-paid rights. However you do not need to worry about the letter, if you HOLD your share all the way till ex-rights, of course you will get yout nil-paid rights. How do you know? just use CDP online service ( Free service) to login and can see CDP credit Kepland_R in your CDP account on or before the day of Right Trading period, which is from19 May to 29 May. So just check CDP online on the night of 18May or early morning of 19 May will do. My dates were from reading document last time, if there is any new dates they will let you know and you can find from sgx website also. If you do not have CDP online you should apply now because it is very convenience for checking CDP account statement online. To help you resolve your confusion about the prices, here are three things : 1. Mother share price. i.e. Kepland share price. Now the trading is cum-rights CR. 2. Nil-paid Rights price, this one is determined by market force, only trading during rights trading period. you can see counters set up as Kepland_R ( for 1000-share lot) and Kepland_R100 ( for odd lot of 100-share). Normally nil-paid rights is trading at MOTHER share price minus Rights Issue Price (1.09).But not always..market force will change that. 3. Rights Issue Price, this one is fixed, at 1.09, in order for anyone to convert nil-paid right to NEW Kepland Mother share, you must exercise (make payment) on or before the deadline (2 June). failure to do that will make the nil-paid rights worthless. that is ==Zero value. Since you have 2000 shares, yes, you will be given 1800 nil-paid rights provided you HOLD them till ex-rights date. hope this helps |
