Leaving his Telok Kurau home with his wife, he had driven 30m along the street outside his home to join the main road when he saw a car stalled in the flood. He then reversed to use the exit at the other end of the street, only to encounter deep floodwaters.

With both exits blocked, Mr Lui and his wife returned home.

Mr Lui, speaking on the sidelines of a community event, said he will speak to the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources privately about conducting dialogues.

Affected residents would want to know how the PUB can alleviate the situation, he said, amid public clamour for explanation as to how such floods can occur in Singapore.

PUB has advised the public to exercise caution as flash floods may occur in the event of heavy storms, adding that the Marina Barrage gates were opened to maintain the water level at Marina Reservoir within the normal range.

But some exasperated residents wondered about the frequency of floods since the Marina Barrage became operational.

PUB will hold a media briefing today shortly before Parliament is scheduled to debate the problem.

Life slowly returned to normal esterday for some of those affected by Saturday’s downpour.

Some suffered a loss of revenue as deep waters ruined goods in shops.SINGAPORE — Like many Singaporeans on Saturday morning, Acting Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew had his morning plans thwarted by rain and flood water.

i used to follow calls from different sectors and i found out that, whenever they call for buy, they may be trying to find opportunity to offload their vested values and you will end up being the one carrying out the responsibility for them.

  Now, i follow what i see and what i believe. Even if i lose, its due to my own assessment and not stupidity nor negligence.

SingTel Seeks Shareholders’ Nod to Provide Chairman Transport Benefits

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) Friday announced that it is seeking shareholders’ approval at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 29 to provide its chairman transport benefits, including the use of a car and driver.

The telco said it is customary for large listed companies to provide the use of a car and driver for their chairman in connection with official duties.

“The use of the car and driver is granted only to the office holder of Chairman of SingTel and only applies during the recipient’s tenure as the Chairman of SingTel,” the group said in a statement.

A taxable value will be imputed for the transport benefits. The taxable value is not expected to exceed S$25,000.

SingTel’s chairman Chumpol NaLamlieng will be succeeded by Simon Israel, after the AGM.

Singapore Telecommunications Limited closed on Friday at S$3.220.

US or Europe crisis----------Nevermind,  thats ok!  China can help.

if China  faces crisis ----------??

Who has the power make this happens,  so far, not yet......China is smart and already taken precautions and watch tightly   'those  who always wanna  rock the market and make another round of  crisis'.

  This time round, might not be Financial crisis,   might not be Oil crisis,      might be something else....China smart to spot...  you can tell or not?

stock charts can only tell  History....what happened on the LEFT side, many people can draw lines, talk and do a lot of calculations on the LEFT side of the chart,,,,what will be the RIGHT side???,,,,like you said,   not many    can tell it right even 10 or 20 years+ of market experience, yes, those who can tell the RIGHT side is truly the master...but many still can't do it, in fact, those who can master, they are RIGHT some of the times, not ALL the time......I always tell people...Only Time will tell......

People prefer 007 for it's novelty.

Instead... STI kena hit by the 0.005 syndrome. I would like to see the effect in a bull market... coz I am thinking, where there is strength, even 0.003 also it will move if it wants to. Simply the ill effects in a bear market will be more severe due to the new change?

Full day trading shld be beneficial to S?GX -

No wastage of electricity since aircon is centralised  system and cant be turned off during lunch time, so, making full use of it

and the man power bring more revenue.

Full use of the system...

more trading volumes.=  more $$ comes in

Yes...I am very engross to my strategy.... It is customise to me and may not work on others... I do not need to guess by  news, and bias on reading the news.... I am follower of my own unique system unlike others (you) who follow others (news, report, panic)...  I only want to be the minority group in the markets... lol

Ah Fool, when one is bullish, he will reach very positive news only... When one is bearish, he will read very negative news.... As for me, I dont read news, but just the charts.... Nothing change my decision except chart... It is within the the downtrend channel, and it will be going down slowly... lol

I think this new scheme could promote penny stocks  that are " not moving for years" or  " half-dead" to become more active  in SGX by having the lower bids spread.

Re : high salary

Used to hear friends uncle or father (Singaporean)  or so and so worked in US MNC , enjoying perks like US$500,000.00. (pa), housing allowance (if based in china) , fying business class and enjoying PPS club at SIA kris  lounge.....family go holiday 2 times a year and staying in condo or pent houses...wife maciam like tai tai no need work and got maid...

After that subprime crsis,  all become jobless....some driving taxi
