Goldman Sachs Quietly Pulls Out of Commodities
Goldman Sachs drastically changed its exposure to commodities in the third quarter according to a Reuters report from a few days back, via MetalMiner.
This could be a sign that they believe dollar weakness has run its course, or at least that it has become too crowded in the near term.
MetalMiner: The change is reflected in two ways, first, a reduction of 32% in their VaR (value at risk – the sum of money a bank is willing to lose in one day of trades) to $27 million and a reduction in hirings for the commodity department. Of course their change of approach does not preclude them from coming back into the market next year but it supports our own position this last two months that further price increases are unlikely and the fourth quarter could see a drop back in prices as demand fails to materialize as hoped.

BB stands for BigBoy, BadBoy, BigBurger, BigBlaster, BigBullsitter and what have you. Hehehe. In this forum, we mean BIGBOYS who are bigtimers whose trades are so large that often can affect or even control the movements of a counter. Some of them are frens of Risktaker and some are even bosses of a few forumers.

Sembmarine’s new Brazilian yard to capture Petrobras business. Upstream, an industry journal, recently reported that Sembmarine is eyeing a new yard in Brazil. Sembmarine is expected to receive two environmental permits to build a yard in the Aracruz industrial hub in the state of Espirito Santo, Brazil by Mar 2010. Construction could start by May 2010 and finish by mid-2010. The yard allegedly could win the tender for the first seven drill ships (out of 28 for tender) from Petrobras. We estimate the potential investment in the yard at as high as US$500m.

Gold looks set to soar --------
Banks Tell Traders To Keep Attacking The Dollar
It's no wonder the Dollar keeps taking a beating: Traders at banks are being told to keep hammering away at the poor greenback.
An internal RBS memo tells traders in no uncertain terms to:
Stay with the established themes of 1) USD weakness and 2) carry/trends trump valuations. One place to oppose this is GBP.
In part, their bet is to be on the same side as emerging market governemtns, such as those in Latin America:
Expectations of a relatively strong economic recovery and USD weakness should increase pressure on the region's Governments to intervene to stem FX appreciation.
These internal messages echo what banks are saying outwardly. Erik Davidson, senior managing director at Wells Fargo's Private Bank, tells Forbes that investing with US Dollars is "a strategy for losing money safely." Between the declining dollar and falling Treasury yields, the idea is no longer to invest in "what's good" but rather, "what's less bad."

China has taken step to 'woo' Arab to foster a closer relationship --See extract
"But why are Arab countries lending a kind ear to China? Look no further than the U.S, invasion of Iraq. With an estimated one million Arab deaths resulting from the US invasion, anger is simmering throughout the Arab world, not just Iraq. The bad publicity gained has helped an enthusiastic China in a big way. China is in need of huge amounts of oil and the Gulf States are happy to comply with China in exchange cheap imports, military technology transfer. This pushes the US further aside from the bargaining table and reduces its influence"
China is set to make this happen and now should be time to look at those Oil related companies in China. Which company has good potential for investment?

Stop-loss points are individual decisions and may take the following factors into consideration:
(1) Ability to read and interpret the candlesticks for reversal pattern.
(2) Individual threshold of pain (risk tolerance), ability to stomach up to what percentage of losses.
(3) Whether is a trader (short-term/mid-term) or investor (long-term) willing to ride thru the correction.
(4) Risk/reward ratio, whether price is near all-time low with limited downside risk and losses or price near or at all-time high with perceived higher risk than reward.

Gold should be valued at around S$40 per gram now

Gold
When you're trying to identify how much gold you've got in a piece, you're going to follow the same guidelines as when checking silver, only this time you're looking for a 10K, 14K, or similar on the item. If you see certain letters after this value, such as EP, GEP, or P, it means that the item is gold plated and not solid.
Currently gold is at a high and valued at about $24 per gram, with predictions of rising again in the future. The price assumes you have a 24K piece though, so a little math is required to find the value of your ring/necklace/etc. To find the market value of your item, use the following equation:
Market Value = (karats / 24) x ($24) x (weight in grams)
In this case, a 10K gold ring weighing 3.0 grams would be worth: (10/24) x ($24) x (3.0) = $29.95. So for that ring you'd be looking at market value of about thirty bucks.

I doubt an average american in US have much to save...their government using their tax payers trillion and trillion of money to pay to bail out the banks their government think is TOO BIG TO FALL, and the AIG, and trillions of debts at people's expense that led to more companies closure, more unmployment and pay-cutting. What can an average Joe do?

Forgive me if I am wrong :) Below is how i feel
STI has been running for quite sometime and he is getting tired. STI (presently 2712) is forcing himself to continue running because Dow Jone (presently 9999) is taking a cane chasing after him. ( It is like a parent taking a cane chasing after their naughty child ). If Dow slow down , STI will take opportunity to catch some Rest between STI 2400 to 2500. Be alert when investing at this moment of time. Cheap Stock has become expensive (eg Jiutian, I manage to purchase some at 0.035 but now it is 0.21 (I sold off my last piece at 0.18), I also manage to purchase China farm at 0.055 but now is 0.26 (I sold off my last piece at 0.21). I believe there are a lot of fund manager and investor who bought at high two years back are waiting to get out if something is not right.
As for Dow Jone index, lets hope it can stable and move forward at reasonable pace because unemployment rate is still high and recently it is often to come across news or comments that US citizens start to save. If US citizen start to "enjoy saving".....
Thanks for Reading :) Invest Happily :) God Bless U :)
